How to transport snake on plane, we are moving to Ottawa!
So we are moving to Ottawa, which involves flying. The problem is, our furnature etc is being shipped and will take 4 days to get there, we are flying and will be there in 5 hrs, but since our stuff won't be there when we get there, we will stay with my parents for 4 days here, then fly out and hopefully get there when our stuff does. So how do I get Mr snake there? I think I read about shipping UPS and a hot pack? But, how many days does it take for the snake to get there? What if he arrives before us? Help!

You might have to go through the whole import/export rough I'm not sure what the laws are for transporting animals from BC to Ottawa. But you might also have to make previsions with the airline..

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

This time of year you do not need a hot pack! I've received snakes via UPS from Reputable Big-Name Breeders, so it can be done, even though I think it's technically illegal, and could be dangerous for the snake if he's caught in transit. Fed-ex it's possible to ship snakes legally, but in the US they makes us go through several months of hoopla to get "certified". And I think there's also Delta Dash (airport to airport?)

I think the easiest would be if you could use Ship Your Reptiles dot com.

You want to do it overnight. The longer he stays in the box, the greater the chance of something BAD happening to him---like being left out on the tarmac at an airport to roast in the sun. And stress is a health hazard, too.

Otherwise I would seriously consider finding a reputable breeder in your area who IS certified to ship, slipping them $100 and begging them to take care of your little guy for a week before shipping him to you.

reptileexpress.com or air canada cargo is your best bet. Could probably be there before you.
