New Hairless pics

Picked up a bunch of rats from my local rat breeder today as my colony is not yet producing and he is moving a few towns away :(

Anyway hey tossed in a few interesting hairless. The first is a quite small not too far off from a weanling. Looks like in addition to being hairless - he is blind too. Has the typical nicks on him from his bros and sisters crawling over him.

I love rats, but hairless rats tend to creep me out. :oops: They just look so angry all the time. Lol

the blind one might actually be a dwarf... they tend to be really small. even though he is blind id keep him to see if he produces dwarfs for you.

Wild guess going by it's features I'd say no, but I could be wrong, it just doesn't have dwarf like features.

:P yes they do, my adult dwarf male is not much bigger than this one but he's 5 months old.
The chances of him having a true dwarf is fairly small and you can't really tell for a fact by these photos.

The OP's ratty actually looks more like a double rex and not a true hairless, going by the whiskers.

actually they both look like double rex... ill have to get a picture of my hairless girl...

True hairless rats dont have any hair or even peach fuzz... they only have skin and wiskers no eye lashes either

you know your absolutely correct....def double rex - the other pic posted is a true hairless...

Double rex seem to have those misshapen whiskers and more wrinkled skin...

My first one appears to be a double rex dumbo...

The photo I posted is also a double rex in molt, he went completely naked as did his sister lol.
I was just poking fun at her comment about hairless being angry looking :P

also wanted to say that with the little guy being blind it shouldnt cause any problems... i had a double rex rat get glaucoma in both eyes and had to have them surgically removed.

I was surprised to find out that a rats vision is usually so poor that with no eyes they can still function like a normal rat.

Ever notice your rat swaying side to side when it looks at you... that is what they do to get a clear picture of what they are looking at
