Mean Bumblebee!

So I've finally waited a few weeks since I picked up a male Bumblebee for him to settle down, then he went into shed and now he's ready to be handled and he's mean as HELL...! :mad: Any veteran tips on how to break him down a lil bit? Thanks guys and gals! Joe

Don't be afraid of being bit. My male spotnose used to love to bite me, even through his tub. But now I reach in expecting to get bit and not caring and I ignore it when he snaps. I haven't been bitten since I adopted the "I don't care" attitude. If you really don't want to get bit, try wearing gloves when you hold him, I did that for a while too.

Just handle him. Move slow and keep it short. Remember baby snakes are this way because we tripper the "Holy Crap it's A HUGE Freaking Predator" response. 99.995% of them grow out of it with steady handling.

If you got him from a breeder, Most breeders don't have the time to spend taming down every snake..

I just got a male pastel breeder he's about 600grams and he is p-i-s-s-y! I was told that he was nasty because he had just bred....but its been a couple weeks now with no change. He tries to strike at me through the glass and when I do get him out he hisses and will continually try to strike any part of me that he can reach. I have read a few threads on this topic.....the consensus seems to be to handle often and don't be afraid of getting bitten. So....we shall see...good luck to you, I'm totally in the same boat.

I haven't been biten or struck at yet. My husband has he said it felt like a scratch. He said it didn't hurt just startled him. If you watch Snakebytestv Chewy takes a bite all of the time. It's hilarious.

all my nippy ones seem to be younger. I have a het pied female that was nasty as can be, now shes 2 and doesn't hiss or strike anymore. When I get hit by my young ones I dont even know it half the time unless their is blood, and if there is its like a drop or two. You'll see its not as bad as you think it is.

I named my Spider male Dracula because he was always out for blood:rofl:

I don't hold my snakes a lot because I have so many, but they get taken out of their cage once a week for cleaning. Dracula has been handled more than usual this winter because of breeding.

He has finally recognized me and realizes that I'm not going to eat him. He has not snapped at me in the last 6 months. He was a little over 2 years old when I got him.

Don't give up on your little guy! He will come around.
