I don't know a lot about them but I bought the coolest ones I could find. LOL. My first foray into breeding rodents. I will be building some rat racks and aspiring to breed them shortly :)

Aww, they're cute. ;)
Looks like you have a Piebald recessive yellow, a black brindle, a piebald black, and a piebald agouti. :)

Awww they are too freaking cute to feed off!! :D

Thanks! Someone thought the Black curly hair one might be a Rex Tan. It has curly black hair like a sheep almost. Thanks for the input! I was told the long hair is recessive so I should hold back the babies and breed them back. Not entirely sure... I'm new to this! LOL. I raised rats before and will hopefully be setting up a feeding colony from snakesRkewl after I get a rat rack built. I'm lucky to just be a few hours away.

Thanks Leah :) Hopefully the fatso black and white one will be a baby making machine and I can feed a few of my mouse only live eaters until I can get the rats going.

Yes your black and tan is a rex. ;)
It's a really poor tan as far as colours go, but it's a tan none-the-less. :D
Colour ain't got nothin to do with how well they'll do as feeder breeders, but do watch out for those brindles, they can get extremely obese (it's genetically linked to brindle and red colours) and if you breed them it can kill them. So if they get really fat, it's better to feed them off, rather than keep breeding them and risk killing them in labor.

I had read about that. The funny thing is that she runs the wheel nonstop all day. Thanks for the great info! I'm firing up the saw to make two 6 tub rat racks tonight! I'm pretty stoked.

Re: My mouse colony
They all look so cute, but your going to want to start some rats soon! With all those females, rats will give them more girth! 1 rat is a lot easier then 3-5 mice a feeding when they get big!
I wish you were closer! I'm running out of space and have about 16 females prego with their first litters!

Very cool. I have hundreds of cool mice in my rack. If you plan on breeding them be sure not to use Kaytee lab blocks you get at pet shops.
I sell a lot of my stock to shops as pets, should look into that as well since most shops dont have the colors.
heres some of my guys i could of hooked you up with.

snakesRkewl is filling my rat racks with whatever he decides but I appreciate the thought :) I have three live only eaters (Cinnamon, Sugar, Mojave). The rest of mine already eat F/T rats. I'm sure they will be easy to convert to rats once my colony is going. I did the math and I'm spending enough in one week on the three live eaters to feed the rest of my snakes for almost a month on F/T. I wanted to take care of some rodents awhile before I jumped into building the rat racks. I actually enjoy dinking around with them. The rat racks just finished up so hopefully I will them it filled within a month and a half and be producing within another month. Either way, rats are my end game. I will still probably keep the mice in case I can't get the three to switch. I'll eventually need mice to start hatchlings too. We'll see...

Cool mice Rich! I'm like all of them. The local pet store can't keep them in stock. Between the price of them, driving all over to find them, and still having three mouse eaters, that pretty much forced my hand into breeding. Hopefully I start having babies soon :) Awesome pictures. :gj:
