more excitement

when i got my first a bp last november i thought there would be more excitement in it but they seem to be very harmless snakes unless your a rodent lol, it almost disappoints me, is there a type of bp or a type of constrictor that stays around 5-6 ft and is a little aggressive not to the point where he strikes at you when you open the tank but kinda like one with the attitude of a cat like sometimes its in a good mood but you never no when its gonna try to bite lol idk just curiouse and looking for some more excitement in the future

Hmm.. not sure what to tell you, sorry you are disappointed in your snake. They really are sweethearts, in my opinion. If you bought your snake in hopes that it would be "dangerous", I think you went about it for the wrong reason. To me, that would be like going out and purchasing a Pitbull because it has a bad rep for being dangerous and aggressive (which isn't the case for most properly bred and raised Pitbulls). :hmm:

Get a blood python. They are not mean but not as lyed back as ball pythons.

I kind of have to agree with Kymberli here. If you want it just because it has a rep for being difficult/aggressive, I would re-evaluate why you want that kind of snake. It seems like a weird reason for picking a species.

sorry if you feel i offended you by when i said im a bit disappointed, i love my snake but the excitement level isnt really there, the fact that he doesnt try to strike at me at all idk.... and you didnt have to tell me that i got a bp for the wrong reasons cuz i didnt, ive always wanted one had one when i was like 3 and nvr had one since, i didnt get one to feel like a bad a** that would be pointless, all you had to do was answer the question not half a*s lecture me on how i bought my snake too feel dangerous, im sorry you focused your attention on the wrong part of my thread

Well, I apologize for causing you anger simply by stating my own opinion. Your post did not offend me at all and it is a shame that you feel the need to use harsh language in defense. A simple disagreement or explanation would suffice.

Anyhow, I don't doubt that you love your BP, judging by your excitement when he took his meal. I'm sure you will find a snake that gives you the satisfaction you seek. :)

What about a fiesty GTP? Theyre so beautiful and can have attitudes.

You could also hold a mouse before handling your BP for a kick and definite uncertainty:p haha im just kidding. dont.

Saying stuff like that is why we questioned you. It seems strange to want a snake just because it's going to be aggressive towards you. I have worked in animal adoption centers, and I have seen people coming for the same reason is you (based on those types of comments you made, please correct me if you are NOT in it for the danger/thrill of an aggressive species). Most of the time, that animal comes back to us when the person realizes they got in over their heads... stressful for the animal and everyone involved.

I would just urge you to pick a snake based on the whole being, not for one specific thing, especially one that is unlikely to be sustainable in the long term. Consider everything that it will require to properly care for that animal - feeding, cleaning, handling, everything. When the thrill factor of him striking at you repeatedly is lost, make sure you have something left to love that snake for as it is with you until its death.

Ball Pythons are known for being one of the least aggressive snakes you can have as a pet. I understand that if you are a thrill seeker, a BP probably isnt doing much in the adrenaline area. I know a couple people that play with venomous snakes for this very reason, but I would not recommend doing this.
Maybe you should consider spiders.. I kept a wolf spider for 2 years that got to the size of a small tarantula in captivity. If you got anywhere close to that thing with your hands it would raise up and show you its fangs... That will give you a rush.. Plus spiders can be very captivating as well.
