    new ball python help!!!!!
I have a new baby spider, i have her in a 20g tank with aspen bedding,2 hides one hide on the hot side, with heat pad which is 90-92 and the cool side that stays at 80 and then i have plant decorations with a jungle background. the humidity is at 50-60.so i know everything is just right.

my problem is i have had her for about 4 days and she hasnt went into none of her hides so im worried that she isnt gonna heat up her body and she will get sick, if you have any advise i would appriciate it thanks.:)

dont worry about it to much. when your snake is ready to go into his hide he will go. im sure he has already you just havent seen him in there. unless your looking at him 24/7 and if thats the case you should stop and let him get use to his new home for atleast 7 days

What device are you using to measure the temperatures and humidity? Also, what type of hides are you using and are they able to touch her on all sides if she were to curl up inside them? If your husbandry is indeed correct, then don't worry about whether or not she is using the hides at the moment. If it has only been four days, she is likely still a bit stressed about the drastic change of environment. Once she settles in, she should use her hides, as long as they are adequate. Don't worry about whether or not she will warm herself up enough. As long as your temperatures are indeed correct, she will thermoregulate as she desires. They know when they need to seek heat and when they need to cool down.

Also, congrats on the new Spider! Post pictures of her as soon as she has settled in. :)

thank u , basically im using the same hides that she had in her enclosure but they dont seem to touch her side to side like you just stated..but if she has used them prevously i would expect for her too use them again.

im using a digital thermometer..sometimes the heat does go too around 96 but goes back down to 90

the owner also said that she was about too shed

Some snakes hang out outside of their hides before they shed... or maybe yours is still getting used to the enclosure. In any case, I doubt you have much to worry about, unless your ambient temps are very cold.

Well if she has used those hides happily in the past, then she might just be adjusting to her new home. As long as your temperatures are fine, let her settle in and hopefully she'll use those hides again.

If you are referring to the San Diego Super Show, yes I am. :) And, you are welcome! Hopefully your Spider settles in nicely. I'll be expecting pictures once she has!
