I have two bp's at the moment and one cage. and heater ext. the issue is she is 6 months old and he is 15 years. can i put them in the same cage??:confused:

The more you read, the more you'll realize it isn't recommended to house multiple bps in a single enclosure. I think most responses that you get will reflect the same.

As was said, it is SERIOUSLY not recommended. Personally I would never do that because it promotes the spread of diseases, makes it hard to realize who is healthy and who isn't by things like stool and urine, and because they will almost always end up competing for food and space and heat.

Housing two snakes together, no matter the species, will undoubtedly cause them unnecessary stress and so many things that are easy to avoid can happen to them. I highly recommend against it.

We were originally going to do this and actually did for the first two weeks when we got our lesser and spider while we waited on our rack to come in. The final decision for us was a horrific article on Balls pythons and cannibalism. It is very rare but we didn't feel it was worth the risk. Also even if they don't go to cannibalism one my not eat as often as it would if they were housed separately.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned, if he's 15 and she's only 6 months, when she hits puberty, she won't be able to handle a pregnancy at that young of an age. It could kill her. And he WILL attempt to breed her. I'd hate for that to happen. :(

It baffles me that even after all the info on the internet and threads on this forum, people still ask this question. I think I've answered 4 or 5 people about it. Though granted, it's usually in regard to housing multiple species.

In a nutshell, unless they're both of breeding age and you WANT babies, don't put them together. Garters and corns are the only semi-social snakes I know of, and even then it's best to separate.

If it's for a couple days then it's not so bad but any longer than that I would not recommend it!
