    does anyone know if a wild black rat snake lay egg's and if so how many around

    Yes they do. Not sure how many, maybe 6 to 12?

    I've seen as many as 16. Just depends on the age/size of the female.

    My first experience ever with eggs was when I was 10, I caught a big black rat near my house and the next day she laid 17 eggs. I incubated them in a quail incubator from the back of 'Boys Life' magazine. Being 10 years old and having no clue what I was doing back in the year 1990, 5 out of the 17 hatched. So, I can personally say that they can lay up to at least 17. Great snakes too, by the way. :)

    Colubrids seem to have really large clutches, BPs only lay like 4 eggs. I know people get more but yeah. Smaller eggs I guess.
