emperor scorpion care info pleeeeaassee
hey all, im going to get an emperor this weekend and im cramming knowledge and it would help to hear others input if possible.
i have my bps temporary enclosure for when i give her main one a deep cleansing just sitting around and i want to livin it and use a tub for her temporary instead.the tank i speak of is a 10 gallon with a locking screen lid.
i only intend on getting one scorpion because ive heard two in a ten gallon is slighty stressful and i dont wanna come home from work to find them both dead from some emperor kung fu battle.
one emperor per ten gallon?
ive read the coco fiber mixed with moss and some moss on top of soil is best with a depth of 3 to 6" in depth.what do you guys or girls use for your emperors if you have em?
my room temps range from 75 during the coolest parts of the day and 85 during the hottest part of the day.but thats with the ac on.off would be a different story since i am from the dry desert we call phoenix arizona.the question here would be,does an emperor need a heating gradient?
im sure in the winter it would be necessary cause it gets cold.well as cold as a desert could get.
what is the ideal humidity?60 to 80 percent?
is uv lights bad for em?ive read its like a radioactive reaction in their exoskeleton.
gasp would my emperor grow to monstrous proportions if i expose it daily to uv lights and have the military attack my baby emp like Godzilla?!!?!?!omfg?!?!?!
thanks for reading and any replies
mark

yeah, they'll glow if you shine UV light on them, but it breaks down their exoskeleton. so yes, constant exposure is really bad. infrequent is debatable, but can't be good...
for humidity I've read 80%-90%. They come from tropical forests in Africa, so they need humidity like their natural environment.
They burrow too, so a five inch deep substrate would be better, something that can facilitate their humidity requirement, coco fiber:gj: . Offer them some cork bark to hide.
Only house one, because they might get along, but they might also go Russell Crowe on each other.
You should be fine with the temps, but if you aren't attaching a UTH to the side of the tank should suffice. Use a solid top with some ventilation holes. You need a top that will retain humidity
