Question on Lizards.

I do not know if i am actually going to get a lizard, i think its mostly me just looking at options. but i like catching lizards and playing with them when i catch them outside. i have never owned a lizard before but snakes yes. i have a 3ft long, 2ft deep, 1ft high cage. what would be able to live in that size for the rest of there life?

keep in mind i am not just going to throw an animal in there just because its the right size. i will do research if i ever do plan on getting one for sure though.

Check out uromastyx too. They are awesome to have. Very docile with cute pudgy cheeks :)

In my personal experience, monitors and tegus are the best lizards. However since youve ever owned any lizard i would not reccomend them.
Id say a leopard gecko would be a good choice. They are very even tempered and easy to care for, and they come in so many different colors!
Beardies are also another great lizard for beginners, but being larger they require more space. Their personalities are great. And they LOVE being rubbed behind their ears and under their chin.lol just a fun fact.
Just be sure to do your homework!

that tank is only big enough for a skink, uromastyx, or bearded dragon.
You would eventually need a new tank for a tegu or monitor, and maybe even a bigger bearded dragon.

all of those lizards need UVB lighting, but the dragons and the uromastyx both need exceptionally high basking temps. But the uromastyx is cheaper to feed, as it is effectively herbivorous, while dragons are omnivorous and relatively expensive to feed. Skinks are also omnivorous, but not nearly as expensive to feed as dragons.
The BT skink is the cheapest and most forgiving choice
The dragon would be more expensive than the uromastyx.

hmmmi if you could somehow make the tank able to stand on one of the sides that opens the door to arboreal lizards

its a link to a tank modification instructiions on how you would modify the tank to stand up.

i dunno if you could actually stand the tank up as they put it on its side.or if you would even be interested in doing that.pricing and husbandry for all would be different but i dont know about all that just throwing the ideas out there.
