Poor little mouse..

A tiny house mouse got into my kitchen tonight. Needless to say, my Australian Shepherd was ecstatic about this new toy. I managed to get her away from it and trapped it in a small box. Poor little thing was limping, I don't think it will survive, but I released it down, away from the house anyway. My brother in-law and sister were laughing because I was so sad and commented on how cute it was, yet I feed f/t rodents to my snakes. :oops: I suppose my logic is a bit twisted.

I truly hope that little mouse does not suffer, but I did not want my dogs near a wild rodent and do not have the ability to create a humane gas chamber. :please:
That's nature, I suppose. Can't save them all.

Wild mice are terribly cute and I can't help but feed them. I even have a little water bottle setup in the garage for them in the summer time :oops:

That's just asking for problems, SansCera. Rodents breed prolifically, carry disease, etc, etc, etc. There's just no upside to what you're doing. That said, it's your house, you'll do what you want; just don't expect *not* to end up on an episode of Billy the Exterminator. :P

I don't think so. It's an issue about empathy for things suffering. You are empathizing with this live and unfortunately suffering mouse. I would have done the same thing.

I love mice, they're so incredibly cute. When I was about ten years old I "rescued" (or so I believed) a feeder mouse from a Feed Supply store and kept it as a pet named "Stuart Little". :rolleyes:

Now.. I'm sitting next to my Kritter Keeper in which a cute little albino mouse awaits his imminent demise. (Pinstripe BP) I'm falling in love with him because he's been curled up in a ball sleeping for the past hour. :oops: I'm glad my others feed on f/t.

I always feel that way when I need to feed a live rat. I have a small rat, just a weanling ive been saving to feed my pied BP and its been a few weeks now. Ive grown attached to him. I dont really want him to die at my hands...its hard sometimes. But I do have a handful of rats that are breeders safe from a snake meal demise.
