    She Took Frozen Thawed!!!
So I got a new ball python last weekend, and she was on live rat pups. Now, I live in a place where you are not allowed live rats. This was a problem. I called the breeder, and he said she was a strong feeder and should switch over no problem. Well he was right! First time offered frozen thawed and she nailed it! I wish all BP's were like this. I just had to share my success story, I was so excited. I was so worried that she would be a pain to switch over, I was prepared for a battle with her.

Congrats! I was really excited when I got mine on F/T rats too. I maintain that it's because our little guys are super smart and sophisticated:P

There is no way to describe that feeling when they eat. I feel like a proud parent:P

Oh, and to clear up any confusion to anyone who is reading, I have African soft furred rats, which are legal where I live, as they are not under the genus rattus.

    Great news!

I know it can be a pain in the butt, but I wish that more breeders would raise them on f/t rats. I'd be willing to pay extra for one that I didn't have to convince to eat what I'm serving.

congratulations! I am going to try and make the switch now that it's getting warmer out now...
and I don't mean to be a negative nelson, but I've had both mine take frozen thawed then refuse them after...maybe i wasn't stubborn enough, but I feel like I just tricked them the first time... I'm knocking on wood for you, though!

    Heh. Awesome!

My room mate adopted a 9 year old male who was fed on live his whole life and has the scars to prove it. When it was time for his first meal, she was really skeptical. He took that thawed rat like a champ. I've noticed he likes to strike at food that is dragged on the ground in front of him instead of food that dangles in the air.
