So I'm moving...

Half way across the country. What in the world do I do with my girl? I'm going from Missouri to Cali. How do I go about getting her out there with me? Does anyone know if it's safe for me to travel on the plane with me, or do I need to find a way to ship her?

Any advice would be great!

I would see if you could call the airline company. Most of them will probably not allow it esp after "Snakes on a Plane!" But they may have exceptions. I would recommend seeing if a friend/family member can help you on one end or another. Where in Cali are you going to?

Hah, stupid movie. Heading to the bay area (San Jose). I figured I should just call the airline, but wanted to see if anyone else has been in this situation, and what they did.

I would just ship it to a friend in California then get her when your here

I've heard that most airlines will not allow it, but I believe some people talked about sneaking them on in sweatshirts. Personally, I think it's a bit risky since I don't know what they would do with it if you were caught.

Yeah, I wouldn't sneak her on... That just seems dumb. Plus, once she's out of her tub, she won't stay still for very long.

I could ship her and have a family member pick her up I suppose. What's the safest way to ship her, packaging wise?

www.shipyourreptiles.com has ALL the packing info and supplies you need. It is only legal to ship through SYR or Fedex itself (if you have already been approved). You cannot ship snakes through USPS or UPS at this time.

You will need overnight express shipping and a triple container; outer cardboard box, inner Styrofoam box, snake bag. You'll probably need a heat pack (40+hour). SYR has a video on all you need, packing snakes is easy :) I just sent out a few this week myself.
