bp kiiled the rat and then would not eat it
I just recently got my male normal back on feed. I have been having to feed him prey that is on the smaller side just to get him to eat again. Last night I tried to feed him a rat pup and he just killed eat and then did not eat it at all. I fed him one last week and didn't have any issues with him not eating the rat. Has anyone ever had their bp do this before? I tried leaving the dead prey in the tub with him overnight but he did not eat it.

I've had bps strike and coil then not eat. I usually leave it in the tub overnight, if they don't eat it they wait another week.

Thank you for the quick response. I will just wait to try again next week then.

    Yep, I get this too.

What I noticed is - they didn't want to eat but they didn't want to get bit by the rat either. All the times that my bp did this - he would strike at the rat but not coil. But then, the rat would get comfortable and try to come near the snake again, so he would strike again but not coil... until he finally gets tired of it and strikes and coils, rat is dead, then he leaves it alone. Problem solved.

So, what I've been doing is - if he strikes but doesn't coil, I just get the rat out and wait another week.
