    RIP Alice
My baby cornsnake passed away today or last night. Before I left for work this morning, I noticed she was in the corner of her tank and I figured she was just sleeping since she doesn't move around much in the mornings. When I came home, I went to pick her up and she was lifeless.

I'm unsure how she died. I bought her from Petco 3 1/2 weeks ago, which I was iffy about buying anyways. I know alot (not all) of the employees at Petco/Petsmart don't know how to properly take care of animals. No offense to those that do work there, just the girl that helped me didn't know much about reptiles. So it's possible I bought her sick (I don't think she had ever eaten pinkies before as they had crickets in the tank). She regurged her first pinkie when I got her home (which she is so small I was nervous about doing) so I waited 10 days to feed her again. I fed her last Friday and she seemed to be doing well.

She had 2 hard lumps in her body, about an inch apart. I'm wondering if she was having problems digesting or regurging. She was peeing and pooing like normal. I just hope that I did the right things to take care of her. I'll sure miss the little thing.

How sad, I'm so sorry for your loss :( I'd make sure you buy from a reputable breeder next time to be sure you don't get a sick/neglected snake. :tears:

Thanks, that's my plan. They had her on sale (obviously for a reason) and I fell in love with her. I wish I could buy all the animals there.

Sounds to me as if you bought a non-feeder. Did she come with any feeding records?

This is the only explanation I can come up with for why it is that they had crickets in her tank, other than possible education issues among that stores employees. Not to mention she was on sale...

There is actually a "protocol" for regurgitations with corns since it is not unheard of. I hesitate to use the word common, but its close. Typically this is only an issue with baby's unless there are serious husbandry issues or health issues with an adult.

    I'm sorry for your loss!
