I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Steven, and I've currently got 2 snakes.
The first one I got back in 2007 was a Snow Corn, named Pinky. He was a class pet, who I adopted after the school year was over. (about a year old) The class named him Pinky because he's white with red eyes and pink/orange/peach colored rings all the way down. He is a very well mannered snake, and a party centerpiece.Currently Pinky is about 5 1/2 ft long.
Picture of Pinky, shortly after I got him.

The second snake I own is a Ball Python named Mr. Stubbs. I got him a few months after I got my corn. He's named for the really stubby tail. While I was trying to think of a name, I called him stubby, which I later changed to Mr. Stubbs (it just sounded better). He was a pretty mild mannered ball, and used to sleep on my lap every evening while I was watching tv. In the last year or so he has become a lot more anti social. He hisses more, and strikes at my hand more. I think a lot of this is due to my previous work schedule, that didnt allow me to handle him as often as I used to. Mr. Stubbs is about 4 1/2 ft long.

I found this forum while I was looking for tank setups for my snakes. I'm a member of several car forums (under the same name), and thought I might learn just as much about my snakes as I have my vehicles. Right now my tanks have a piece of carpet for the base, along with a rock, water bowl and shelter. I think they look pretty plain, and am welcome to suggestions & input.

Hello and welcome to bp.net. Your corn is beautiful and looks like you have a nice ball there too. :)

    Welcome :)

What do you use for a heat source? ( referring to the bp...I have literally zero knowledge on corn snake husbandry unfortunately....)

My only suggestion for the ball python would be to buy $6 black Con-Tact paper from Home Depot and black out the sides and back of Mr. Stubbs (love the name...lol) tank. It will make him feel more secure especially with the half log hide.

Hello Steven, and :welcome: to BP.net. An easy way to change the look of the tank, is to go to a pet shop and get some aquarium scenery and put it on the back and two ends of the tank. They usually sell it by the foot and you can either apply it like window tint or just tape it on around the outside of the tank. Here is a photo of a tank that I used it on.

Nice to meet you!! hope to see you around. :D I agree with the above suggestions! I actually went to a dollar store and bought 2 sheets of black poster board, a utility knife, and some packing tape. Nice and cheap, and believe it or not, not bad at all to look at!

I currently have the two tanks next to each other, and have it setup with a single heat lamp covering one end of each tank. (I had a second that broke) Pinky doesn't seem to like the heat lamp much, and usually moves away from it when its on. He's always been like that. I've even been considering redoing his cage with some thing he can bury himself in.

I can definitely block out the sides of Mr. Stubbs tank to make him feel more secure. I'm also thinking he might need a bigger log, and more coverage to hid under as well.

I definitely like the look of that tank. I will have to get some foliage to add to the tank with a background like that.

Thanks for the welcome. Thats a great idea also. On that note, I guess i could take and do some folliage art on the green paper that I use to tape off the windows of my car, while im working on it..
