    I was just wondering if it is too late in the season to breed?

    Never late, Breeding is all year, not over till ovulation

    Usually it's quite obvious, as they swell (in the lower/mid-section) noticeably for about a 24-hour period. Here's my girl Mona, when she was ovulating last year... looked like she'd swallowed a bunny, but she hadn't eaten in almost a month. :O

    does every female ball python ovulate even if she hasnt been put with any males?

    No ovulation is when the sperm has the chance to fertilize the eggs( basically she mixes them)
    They do all build towards ovy and you can notice the build before ovulation

    I don't want to hijack the thread, but I was wondering..

    When getting a female that has been locked and is 'hugging the cool' and might be building towards and ovy.. would the shipping of said female be detrimental to that process?

    No it wuoldnt effect it, But getting a new snake and putting her right ot breeding is bad QT practice. So by time shes out of QT she could be not building anymore

    She's going straight into QT, definitely. I didn't plan on breeding her this year. :] The owner I'm purchasing from just happened to breed her with three different males before deciding to sell.
