My double Rex hairless pain in my......

Ok so we recently had a few hairless rats pop up in one of our litters. I posted pics on here for your help with what they were. You guys all said double Rex I do believe . So my question is this. They seem to be chewing at each other. They all 3 have some scabs on their heads and necks. Why are they doing this and what can I do to stop it? I have been putting antibiotic ointment on them. And those wounds will heal but they will have new ones. They have clean fresh water at all times. They always have food ( rodent block 6f ). Tubs are always clean. Never sitting in urine and feces soaked bedding. ( try to clean their tub every other day due to the whole hairless thing ) So any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

This is interesting because I actually had two pet hairless rats that I took in shortly before finding them another home and they fought so severely that one had a 2inch gash down its chest. I had to keep them in separate enclosures. Not sure if it is coincidence or their predisposition.

Sounds like mites to me, been there done that :(

May seem kinda obvious but i would assume they are bugs that move :P

Not sure what rat mites look like but iv been told you can see them move on rats if you inspect them closely.

I would guess either mites or that they are just rough housing like normal, but you notice it more because they are hairless. When I had a hairless in the past, she constantly had little cuts/scratches/scabs, that weren't even from fighting.. just from playing and bouncing around the cage.

If you aren't noticing hair loss on any of your normals, I'm guessing it isn't mites.

Google rodent mites, there's tons of info out there on them.
Google rodent mites in images too to make sure it looks the same.

True, it shows more on regular rats than hairless.

Hairless/double rex tend to show scratches and bites from normal playing and fighting. I had a couple that always had some scratches here and there.

That is just normal, no matter what because there double rex they will get cuts and scabs. It's from playing, wood chips (wood chips always seem to cut them up the worst), or just being rough with each other. I really woudent worry unless theres puss coming out of the cuts, blood all over, or a Massive cut on them. If your still to worried about them, put them in separate cages with care fresh.
