Humidifiers

What do you guys do as far as humidifiers. I'd like to get the repti fogger, but I hear the fan craps out a few months in. I hear sunbeam makes the best humidifiers. I'd just buy one of those and outfit it with a hose. What do you guys think?

if you switch to a small rack system you wont hafta worry about humidity to much but to each its own if you are using a tank with a screen top good luck on keeping the humidity in there

I have a germgardian ultrasonic I like it it has a warmer to help warm the mist, I found that isn't really useful. The vaporizers work perhaps a bit better but cost more to run the steam they output is quite hot as well so location might be a bit more fussy. Get one with a large reservoir mine needs re-filling every 3 days bigger might be nice...

My snake room sits at 63% and my surrounding rooms are at 55% the screen top tank that is in my living room is at 58-63 no misting, no troubles, easy cheap solution. (I have a small rack too, exchanging one problem for another isn't a solution, racks can heating heating issues best solved by heating the room to 80ºF that can be costly for just a few snakes)

mine... I wish it had a larger water reservoir. I think they are all about the same? mine has been on for 8 months now it has not been turned off.

It's a no-brainer, but how you have to manage humidity depends a lot on the actual environment where you live. I could see that in New Mexico (which I believe is quite arid?) a humidifier could help. Here in GA, a ramekin of water in each tub is more than enough to keep the humidity over 60%; and each tub has two rows of ventilation holes on all 4 sides.

There are also misting systems targeted at arboreals. One mister can mist several enclosures. They usually come with a timer. It might be overkill for balls, but it's something else to consider.

A word of caution whichever you use, replace the water often so that you don't get a bacteria out break.
