Breeding strategies.

Hi guys.

At the moment i have 3 morph males, Fire, Mojave and Spider.I also have 3 normal females. I know the breeding season is a little far off, but I'm thinking about what the prudent thing to do would be? Should i just cycle all three males through all three females? Or have one male stick to one female all through the season?

Any serious input is very welcome!

If your BPs are still young, I'd pick up a few more females. I'd maybe even get a couple pastel girls to breed your boys to. As far as cycling the males with each female, it would depend on what your plans are in my opinion. I'd personally want to try to get a clutch from each male. Also, one or more of your males may be a stubborn breeder. I know I had to introduce my pastel (proven breeder) to my pos het pied girl this year to get my het pied boy going (he showed zero interest before I did that). So my intensions to try to prove her out may have to wait til next year. There are far more experienced breeders here that I'm sure can provide guidance to you though. Welcome and good luck!

If it were me, I'd try most for the fire, cause I like those more, and I want combos with them. I love the black eyed lucy. However, I'd likely cycle the mojo and spider with at least one of the females.

As for getting more females, I'd only recommend that if you have the room for a lot of clutches and babies. If the males are good breeders, you could likely pair them each with 6 females. So you could easily have 18 clutches, but that's a lot to start out with...

It really depends on what you want to work towards. Fire and fire crosses? Mojos and mojo crosses, or spider and spider crosses. If you're trying to combine your fire, mojo, and spider, then you need to breed each male to the females to try for the female morph of each.
