    HELP!! Wet Egg

]This is my first clutch of eggs and I am concerned that I have one out of the five eggs that is very wet on top only. The rest of the eggs look great and have no wet spots at all.

I used Vermiculite as the substate and I am confident that the mixture was not too moist. It clumps with no water dripping and falls apart very easily. We are incubating at 90 degrees and the humitity stays at 92 plus percent.

There is condensation inside the eggs box, is this what is causing the egg to be wet? Should I be concerned at this point? The eggs were laid on Mother's Day 5/8/11, and have been in incubation since then. The wet spot appeared 3 days into this process.

I am not sure how to attach a photo of this, so any help here would be great too.

    I appreciate any advise...
    thank you
    Denese

P.S. I am attempting to upload the pics, lets hope this works..

Hi Denese!! Congrats on the eggs! I didn't know you guys were expecting. :D

As far as the wet one, its most likely due to the condensation dripping onto the eggs. Condensation appears when there is a temperature difference between the inside and the out side of the egg box. Do you have a thermometer in the egg box and one in the incubator?

Yes we are expecting our first clutch, so excited and worry over them like a mother hen...LOL We have one for the incubator, we were discussing getting one for inside the egg box itself but was not sure if we needed one, with your comments I think we will go tonight and get one.

Should I be concerned about this one egg?

I would dry the egg off and make sure there isn't any more water dripping on it. It should be fine as long as you can fix the condensation issue. You might only need a few vent holes in the egg box to remedy it. You can also try lifting the egg out of the substrate a bit to allow some more air circulation around the egg.

You may also want to candle the egg for veins. Sometimes eggs going bad will sweat.
