Just had quite the scare with my new ball...
Hi guys, well, I was just surfing the forums, and took a look over at my two balls cruising around their enclosure and noticed one of them doing something extremely odd, so I took a closer look and saw that my humidity gauge was gone. I looked at the snake and saw that it was adhered to my snake!! so I quickly grabbed the snake and tried using water to gently pull it off, no go, so I hopped on google and read that olive oil and q-tips work. I quickly grabbed both and began loosening the tape.

It all came off with no loss of scales and I must say the little ball took it like a trooper. She stayed calm, and let me do my thing to help! It was very close to her head and she had plenty of opportunities to bite me but never even tried! I am so proud of my little girl and will take actions to assure this wont happen again!

the dial humidity gauges are useless anyway, just throw it out. Get a digital reader--accurite makes a very affordable one (15 dollars at your hardware store)

Bps are known for their good disposition and tolerance for handling :) I'm glad she upheld the standard for you.

Yea they were just temporary anyway, just dont have a place close by to get a good digital meter. I will just make the trip and do it now.

Ditto! Accurite weather station. Reads 2 temps plus humidity. Less than $10 by the other thermostats in the hardware section.

My BPs would never lay still for me to do something like that. Lol. Definitely make the trip to get a digital thermo/hygrometer. BPs tend to cling/hang onto the gauges that stick to the side of the tank until they pull them off. That's probably what yours did.
Glad your BP is alright!! :gj:

Yeah definitely get those I dont really trust all the reptile product brands anymore when it comes to thermometers and hygrometers. Well actually they read temps fine but humidity.. is just a disaster. A while back I bought 4 exoterra combometers and still got them, 2 of them are reading humidity at like 20-30% lower than it really is, and 1 10%. Really horrible
