Got my second clutch, eggs rolled when I moved her...
I left my fiance in charge of the eggs because I was gone all weekend at a horse clinic. He got lucky though! She was in the process of laying when I was on my way back home so he didn't have to deal with it. I told him to make sure to NOT let the eggs roll, then what do I do...I let the eggs roll

Here she is on her eggs, only 4, but they are decent sized. The one she rolled out is fine vein wise.

Here is a pic of one of the eggs. I've never candled the bottom of an egg, but they all seem to have this clear line in them. The two that didn't roll have that line on the bottom, so I'm assuming the other two should have that line on the bottom as well correct? Oh wait...one of them that "didn't roll" was that one she pushed out, so I'm really not sure how I should have them...ugh....

And sorry for the crappy pictures. I left my camera in the horse stuff or the truck, not sure.... Her eggs weren't stuck together and she held onto them when I tried to pick her up, so they rolled. Good going, I know.

Congrats on the eggs! I've had an egg roll out repeatedly in a maternally incubating clutch last year and the baby still hatched without any problems. I wouldn't fret over roll outs. ;) Eggs are very resilient and seem to be "self correcting" when turned.

Thank you! That makes me feel much better! I know a lot of people have had eggs roll or drop and they still hatched. I just need a little reassuring!

Does anyone know if that clear line is a common thing on the bottom of an egg?

Congrats! I hope you get the ever-so-confusing top or bottom figured out. :P Right-side-up, upside-down, this is a learning experience for me as well! Thanks! ;)

eggs get moved all the time in nature. it doesnt mater. not everything you read is true. back in the day when captive breeding was in its infancy, many thing went wrong and other things got blamed for the problem. i have had an incubator full of eggs get flipped over and fall 4 feet. it had 23 eggs in it. all 23 hatched just fine and on time. this happened 4 weeks into incubation. henry dean took a clutch of cornsnake eggs and at different intervals rotated the eggs. 1/4 turn for 1 egg and a certain day 1/2 turn on another egg another day, full rotatin to another egg ect ect ect. all hatched just fine. its something that happens in nature as well. raccoons get into nests and tear them up. the eggs that didnt get eaten still hatch.
dont worry, good eggs hatch bad ones dont. they are very resilient.

Oh wow that would have been a really stressful time! I'm glad almost all of them hatched for you. Definitely makes me feel better!
