Baking Soada tgo Euthanize Rats...Answer Please.
I have euthanized 3 rats. I used baking soda band vinagar, but some of the mixture got on the rats. Can I still safely feed the rodents to my snakes?

It's safe to feed them. if you're worried about it, give them a rinse in warm water. :)

Ok, thanks. One more thing, I have 5 females that will be 4 weeks old and ready to be weaned this sunday. 2 days away. They are not feeders, they are going to be breeders, and I was wondering if I could take them out and put them in their own tub, or should I wait until sunday?

If they're females I'd just leave them in with the mother, no real reason to separate them early unless they're males. :)

Well they are in the bin with their mother AND the male. The male hasn't messed with them since birth, and lets them sleep all over him. I just don't want them getting prego by their dad and they can get prego at 5 weeks of age. So I'm thinkin maybe I need to take em out.

    Oooooh okay. :)
I didn't know dad was still in there.

I would take them out as soon as you think it needs to be done, no earlier than 4 weeks.
Some mice take longer to mature than that, but if you think they're ready right at 4 weeks, then it's fine to move them. :)

Try euthanizing them this way. I find it easier and just as cheap. The link is provided below to my youtube page. Its the DIY CO2 chamber and feeding vid.

Baking soda and vinegar creates salt water after the reaction. Just rinse the rats off and that is that. :)

Sodium Acetate... salt water of sorts but not sodium chloride that 'salt' implies, slightly more toxic than salt but just slightly.

But yes a water rinse is fine.
