    Boa setup, looking for feedback
So as I posted earlier, I got my first boa in this morning and I would love some feedback on my setup. I figured pics would be the best way to get feedback, so here they are (please forgive the glare):

She's in a 40 gallon breeder with cypress mulch bedding. I'm sure that's a little large for her, but the top is 1000x more secure than my 29 gallon tank. I have a UTH on the side with the log hide controlled by a rheostat. I have a digital thermometer between the substrate and the glass. It's reading 93.4 right now, but my apartment is currently at 82 because I forgot to shut my heat off. It was at a steady 88 last night into this morning, but it was probably cooler because I leave my ceiling on all night (she's in my bedroom). It's a little hard to see, but there is a hide she will fit securely into, but I've read they they usually don't use hides. I know the log is too large to be a hide, but I put it in there so she would have something else to climb on.

Any feedback, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. I'm used to BPs and want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

P.S. I know this is a BP forum, but I think enough people here can give me solid advice and if I went to another forum I really wouldn't have a life because I would have to keep up with multiple forums. :P

Awww... She's a cutie! I am considering a boa myself so this topic is of interest to me too. Congrats on your new baby! ;)

Looking good! :gj: I gave my boa 2 hides and blacked out the sides and back (and I have the front 3/4 covered for now with a dark shirt to help him chill), but I've also read that brbs are a little more shy than rtbs. Since all younger snakes tend to more skittish anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if you see her under the log. You'll know to get another hide or cover the sides and back if she seems defensive or reluctant to eat.

+1 blushing my boa is in a tub, but being that you have such a huge tank for her I'd black out the sides and back with black Con-tact paper (Home Depot $6). I also have two hides for mine in the tub, I'm sure the half log hides are fine, I just personally don't like them. They will feel more secure with the back and sides blacked out, then you can put the back of the log hide against one of the sides to be more "hide-like". Other than that it looks good. She is just so pretty :) Congrats! :gj:

Some boas don't use hides, ever, so I think having two might not be necessary, but MY boa is a freak and the only time I see him out of his hides is if he's hungry he pokes his head out or if I lift the hide and wake him up

Thanks everyone. That half log is more for her to climb on. It's hard to see, but there is a tan hide in the back right corner. I have a medium repti shelter I'm going to put in when I get home so she has two hides. Blacking out the sides is going to have to wait until the weekend though. Every time I move that thing on my own I hurt myself in some way, so I will call in re-enforcements this time. :P

Looks great! As long as temps and humidity continue to work out, it looks like you're set. :)
