Question on BP's scales

I have found on occasions when I am handling my BP, scales here and there on her underside that feel raised or at least are noticeable. It's only when I rub against the scale direction I can tell. And it's not always or in the same spot. Is this normal?

They need to be able to get traction so they can move. :)
