"Pet" and "Critter" now deemed derogatory names ;)
Yes - the PC police are back at it again! CNN reported a story the other day that we are no longer to refer to them as "pets" or "critters" - they are now to be referred to as "companion animals" - ;) no sir you can't make this stuff up....

Similarly, we are no longer "owners", we are "human carers" and to say otherwise should be deemed offensive.

I would have thought it was April 1st :)

So - excuse me while this human carer feeds some frozen, thawed companion animals to some of my other companion animals ....

I don't know why you guys are all making light of this.

I asked my snakes and they were VERY offended. In fact, even companion animal is offensive. They would each like to be called "Your Majesty" and my cats concur.

Because THIS is the pressing issue facing all pet (oops) owners (carers).
I will go give my canine companion a stolen bovine vertebrae and pray the cow doesn't sue me!

This isn't news. All the radical animal "rights" and welfare groups have been pushing this for YEARS.

Even a lot of the pet store chains have partially caved into it and use "companion animals" as correct terminology. Corp has been slowly forcing it down the chain of command at both petco and petsmart.

Agreed, although PETA doesn't even want "companion animals" they want us to release them all into the wild to frolic in a Disney-esque musical sequence!!
