    Question about Boas and Hides
I have what is probably a very silly question but having just received my first Boa (BCI) I have a question regarding their habits. Ive had only 3 snakes prior to her,a BP, Sumatran Short Tail, and a Bull snake which I presently have. All of them love to use hides, caves, cork rounds, or to go under the water bowl to hide. After over a week I have never seen my Boa use a hiding spot, in fact I have never seen her enter one of her cork rounds or hides while exploring. She will poke her nose in and than proceed to climb over everything and anything in her enclosure. She perches on a large piece of driftwood to bask and get warm and than lays right out in the open on the cool side to cool off. Is this normal Boa behavior?

Sorry for such a silly question but Ive never had a snake that didn't love hiding before.

Mine does the same thing. He *has* a hide, should he ever want to use it, but typically he likes to sit up in his leaves and look around. I find him behind his driftwood with his head resting on it to peek out pretty much every morning.

It depends, some I've heard never use their hides, mine I never see unless I take him out because he loves his hides. It depends on the boa, but it sounds pretty normal. Just be sure you keep the boa separate from all your other snakes, and be sure to wash your hands really well. I'm sure you already know of the risks. Congrats :gj:

The only time that mine uses its hide is after it eats....She will hide for a day or two to digest.....:gj:

Mine will also hide while in shed. Other than that his favorite spot has become the top of the hide or his tree branch.

This is one of my favorite things about boa's. My BP never does anything like this. :D

Mine use their hides about 50% of the time...

Two of mine uses the black molded hides and only comes out at night or when there's food. The other hides in the sand.

The bp's seem to like being on top of a hide or on the side of it. Haven't figured that one out yet

My male and female both use their hides regularly, even if they are only halfway or three quarters of the way in, with their heads out. I think they feel more secure with some of their body inside, incase they need to make a hasty retreat.
They tend to sleep in their hides all day and come out at night.
