to big?

Just wanted to say before you read any farther(im not sure how the people on this site feel my my cornsnake site frowns on live feeding) that this is a video of a live feeding. This is the first time I have gotten him to eat since I have owned him (3 weeks) petsmart said not to worry he would eat a f/t every 4 days and with that not happening I dont know how long he had been without food. In my bp noobishness( I have only had corns before him) I thought that was a long time with a small bp. I am trying to switch to f/t. Today (feed Wensday did not weigh him before) he is 100g. this is the smallest mouse my petstore had other than pinkies. In response to your concern about live feeding, there are people from both ends of the spectrum and anywhere in between here. Some advocate f/t, some live, some have personal preferences for either. The key is, everybody here will respect your decision as long as you are ensuring the safety and security of your reptile. The power is YOURS!

You will find people on both sides like Quacking stated. I personally feed f/t for the convenience and for the fact that I don't have to supervise live feedings, it's cheaper (unless you breed rats, which I'm not ever going to do), and I can stock up and stick them in my freezer. Feeding live is not a bad thing, as long as you know how to supervise for your snakes safety AND know what to do if an injury occurs. I don't have issues with either, I'd just find someone who feeds live and ask them some questions on it to make sure it's what you want AND your educated on how to handle it.

Bp's are quirky eaters. Sometimes it doesn't matter what their owners want. Some will pound down anything. Some won't eat unless its just perfect. I prefer f/t for connivance but I've had snakes that would ONLY eat live. Good luck to you and your little cutie. I think the mouse size was fine. :gj:

I start all of my BP's out on adult mice or rat fuzzies.

Thanks for the comments. I prefer F/T because I dont want to breed mice/rats and I dont like making weekly trips to the petstore. and its safer for my snakes. When ever I do feed live tho I supervised and was ready at all times to stop the mouse from getting the snake.

Feed the snake whatever if prefers to eat, just don't leave live rodents with the snake unsupervised. There isn't any right way to feed.

i personally feed live. that's how my girl was started so that's how i do it. i supervise EVERY feeding.
once i sit down to do a feeding i dont get up until the whole thing is over, rat is dead & completely swallowed and my girl is back to hiding.

so you tried feeding him 3 times a f/t and he did not take it, but the first time you introduced a live mouse he took it?
