    Seven UFC 129 Fighters Receive 60-Day Suspensions

    The Ontario Athletic Commission released a list today of fighters who were medically suspended due to injuries sustained during UFC 129 on Saturday night.

    Seven fighters received 60-day suspensions, two received 45-day suspension, two received 30-day suspensions and the remaining 13 received the OAC’s traditional 14-day precautionary suspensions.

    Here is the complete list released by the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services this morning:

    • Georges St. Pierre: Suspended 60 days for eye injury; must be cleared by an ophthalmologist before he can return.

    • Mark Hominick: Suspended 60 days as a precaution; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Randy Couture: Suspended 60 days for knockout; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Jason Brilz: Suspended 60 days for knockout; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Sean Pierson: Suspended 60 days for knockout; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Charlie Valencia: Suspended 60 days for knockout; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Kyle Watson: Suspended 60 for left eye laceration and knockout; must undergo CT scan before he can return.

    • Nate Diaz: Suspended 45 days for left eye laceration.

    • Jake Ellenberger: Suspended 45 days for possible hand injury; must undergo an X-ray before he can return.

    • Jose Aldo: Suspended 30 days for facial lacerations.

    • Mark Bocek: Suspended 30 days for head laceration.

    • Jake Shields: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Lyoto Machida: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Vladimir Matyushenko: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Benson Henderson: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Rory MacDonald: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Claude Patrick: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Daniel Roberts: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Ivan Menjivar: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Jason MacDonald: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Ryan Jensen: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • John Makdessi: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Pablo Garza: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    • Yves Jabouin: Suspended 14 days as a precaution.

    I had no idea that fighters got suspended for an injury. I figured they usually took some time off after a fight anyway. Thanks for the info, I learned something new today

    I didn't see it.. does that mean that Shields got the belt?? (seeing that St.Pierre got the eye injury and Jake only had a 14 day??)

    St.Pierre by unanimous decision.
    the eye injury was from a punch that his glove scraped the eyeball.:rolleye2:

    Canada is very safe they don't leave up to the fighter to get rested and well they make it a suspension to insure they are well

    GSP probably won't be fighting for another 6 monthes to a year, anyways. But hopefully the eye injury isn't anything serious.

    Are the suspensions just for fighting on a card or from everything including training and what not

    I am pretty sure it is from both for health reasons. I don't see how they can stop a person from training like they can from the person fighting on a card but in some instances I don't think the person can train if they wanted to and probably in the fighters best interest to just take it easy until medically safe.
