    Jeremy Browning
    New eastern painted turtle
So today during our reptile and amphibian census, where we find snakes get data on them and then release them ( and i keep any injured or otherwise unable to survive in the wild animals until they're better ), we were in an area that had just had a prescribed burn. As we were taking photos of all the dead snakes turtles and others as evidence to present to various organizations, when i saw LIVE juvenile eastern painted turtle! The reason this was amazing to me is that the turtle who didnt burn starved because they fertilized the soil after the burn which killed the night crawlers plus the plants were gone. I decided to keep until i finished the turtle pond ive been working on for some time, where i would release into a place the didnt put its life in danger every year. Im not gonna take out the turtle for pics but you can see it in these pics!
BTW, two weeks or so ago i posted a thread about prescribed burns,
