Should I be worried?

    Should I be worried?
So I have my first "problem" snake... I've had her almost 3 weeks now. I've tried feeding her twice now, and she refused both times, but I'm not overly worried about that yet. What I am worried about is that she seems to be making no effort to regulate her temp. She sits in her hot side hide all the time. I know a happy ball is a hiding ball, but this just seems extreme. She has identical hides, so that's not the problem. All my other balls will switch hides occasionally, or in the case of one of them move one hide around the tub. :P I don't handle her at all, mainly because she hasn't eaten for me yet but also because she likes to bite. I checked her out when I first got her and other than a stuck eye cap she seems to be in great health. I haven't check her since because I don't want to stress her out any more than she already is. Should I be worried that she never leaves the hot side hide?

i thought my girl was staying in the cool side hide box all the time too and thought there's something wrong with that until i actually saw her going into the warm side hide box late one night. my girl has a habit of staying in the cool side hide box for the 1st 24 hours after a meal before switching to the warm side for the 2nd day and then going back and forth on or around the 3rd day.
these snakes are nocturnal so chances are she's moving back and forth at night and you just happen to be catching her when she is on the warm side.
i'd say if you KNOW your temps are good on the warm side then she should be ok spending alot of time there.
it may just be that your girl just likes to be nice and toasty warm...i know i do! :P

Except for the occasional day here and there, my bp always seems to be in her hot side hide. She only comes out to explore for a few hours at night, and otherwise she's perfectly happy hiding and staying warm. The main thing is that you are providing them with a temperature gradient in case they ever do want to cool down, and as long as your temps are correct, I would assume she's just more comfortable on that side :)

Mine does the same thing. I also don't stay up all night to see what she does when the lights are out either. I like being warm when I sleep, so does the ball.
