How much do you spend on your BP a month?
I'm thinking about buying a snake soon and was wondering how much money do you guys spend on your bp a month? Like food, bedding, etc..

    Thanks,
    Nick

For just one it's not a lot. Buying f/t in bulk is what most people do because you only have to buy it a few times a year. The cost of the initial setup is the most expensive part.

The initial cost is always going to be the highest. My BPs don't cost me much to keep, but I keep them on news paper bedding. Your main cost is going to be food, which really varies depending on where you live and what you are going to feed. I feed f/t which is a little cheeper and certainly easier for me because I can buy in bulk. A young snake won't cost much to feed, but once they get bigger the cost goes up a little. I have a female that's currently feeding on medium rats which cost $4 each where I live. Your electric bill will go up a some, but probably not a lot. Honestly snakes are pretty cheep to keep, what I spend on my dog is almost tripple what my 5 BPs cost me to keep per month.

For just one, it wouldn't be much at all after you got everything it needs. That can cost upwards of $100 depending what type of set up you are looking to get. Bedding is free if you want to go the newspaper route, which is what I do

For me personally, if I bought rats rather than bred them it would cost me about $200 a month. But, since I breed rats and keep my snakes in a rack system, I think it costs me about $40 a month, and that's mostly rat supplies. So even with a bunch of snakes, its not much once you get past the intial cost of getting all the supplies like tank/tub/heat/thermostat/etc.

I have 3 and u buy f/t in bulk, I but about 50 rats so it cost about 40 bucks. And I feed once a week so it's not to bad. I spend more on my dog and bearded dragon.... So I say maybe 300-400 including bedding for the year.. That's a rough number for 3 balls

Electricity will be another expensive a lot of people don't take into consideration. For BPs whatever you use to keep the temps up is going to cost you something. Let's say your heating devices are using 200 watts, and they're on 24/7. At 0.10120 per KWH the setup would run you $15 on your monthly electric bill [or $180/yr].

Mm ya electricity is expensive for me. It's about 300 a month so 3600$ a yr give or take. But I keep about 200 reptiles. 45 of them are balls. Just for the balls I breed my own rats but if I were to buy them at the pet store they'd be 8$ a piece. That may be less for your area but figure a few dollars a rat. Past the initial set up when I just had 1 or two balls they cost me practically nothing to keep.
