    No Power Tomorrow
    Hi Folks

I just found out we are going to be without power tomorrow for most of the day. I am worried it will effect my python since he will be without heat.

I will be working from my moms house tomorrow and I can take my python with me and he can remain heated. The problem is that I just got him on Saturday. I've been leaving him alone so he doesn't get stressed out. I don't want to stress him out too bad by disturbing his enclosure and driving him across town twice. I assume having no heat will also be a pretty big stress for him.

So which would be better? Take him along or leave him without heat in between 7am and 3pm?

If it were winter and getting really cold I would say take him. This time of year he will be just fine if you leave him at home. They are a lot tougher than people give them credit for.

It really all depends on where you're located. If you have to wear a jacket in your place to keep warm, I would take him with you to your moms. If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much. What's the weather going to be like tomorrow?

I'm actually just down the road from you, Ruthless. The house is well insulated so I am guessing it will be about 70f in the house tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm leaning towards leaving him be.

You could use a propane or kerosene heater. Maybe crank up the heat while you have power to hold him over.

Put a nice heavy blanket over the enclosure. When I lose power I always do that with my fishtanks and it helps retain heat. I wouldn't worry too much personally if the house is going to be 70ish.

Yeah, if it just means he's going without his hot spot for day, he'll be fine at room temp with the blanket around the tank. But it gets below 65F in the house, I'd take him someplace else.

I probably went overboard but I took most of the suggestions. I heated the house to 80 just before the power went out and wrapped a towel around the enclosure. All was well when I got home. The ambient temp in the house was still in the upper 70s.

Thanks again for the help everyone. :)
