That Makes Me Sad...and Angry

I was just on facebook...and a friend of mines status was about how she just killed a snake and blah blah. Its a completley harmless Texas Ratsnake, and she's all proud of herself for killing it. Now they are speculating wether it was venomous or not because she was bit..obviously it wasn't venomous or else she'd be dead or dying!!

God...

You've informed her that some snakes in Tex. have venom that can take up to 2 days to take effect right? And that symptoms include slight fever, insomnia, anxiety, and a rapid heart beat.

That should cover things.

I think you need to find some better friends, IMHO.

Not to be mean or anything like that, I'm sure they're nice people, but I mean she could really learn some common decency. Killing an animal is not something to be proud of, if I were you I would be extremely upset with her.

Well I used to know her personally..we used to hang out and stuff but now I would consider her an aquantince or however you spell it. Bottom line..we aren't close..at all...not even slightly. We basically just know who each other are.

I studied the pic more closely and its a Coachwhip. A very large one at that. Poor thing..its head was hanging by a piece of skin.

Wow. Depressing... It is one thing to hunt deer or birds for food, or fish to eat. But just bragging about killing something and not even having the decency to eat ( or respect!?) the thing... just sad. I've had friends or family who killed rattlesnakes that were living under their houses before and that is sad, but at least they weren't happy about it... If I had known about all the removal services, I would have said something at the time, but i was a youngin'... It's sad how callous people can be about taking a life. It's sad because I do things like taxidermy & I'm a total carnivore, but I am thankful and mindful of the fact that something had to die for me to eat. The animals I taxidermy are edible for me or my friend's raw fed dogs, or I clean the bones for crafts. It's not that you can't enjoy things like meat, or crafts with fur, bones or feathers on them, but it's nice to know it's not a waste of life! Something has to die for my snakes to eat too. I try to remember that when I can!

That sucks. But unfortunately, some people just don't care about animal lives anymore (or care too much like PETA but that's another topic all-together). Where I live in OH, there are people who are so proud of killing a snake that they'll brag about it to anyone willing to listen and act like they were knights slaying a dragon while telling it! :mad:
