tubs for breeding?

okay so i wanna get some racks and its going to be for adult ball pythons and their going to be breeding.

i wanna know what size tubs would be good for them because i need to get the rack really really soon.

I keep all of my breeding females in 40qt tubs except a couple are in 34qt tubs.

I would go with the large tubs, 42-40qt tubs. It gives them room to thermoregulate as much as they need/want too. A friend of mine has been doing a sort of experiment with large and small tubs (38qts). For two years now he's seen a huge difference in the number of girls who lay in the large tubs vs the small tubs. My breeder females are the only ones that get the large tubs, I think they are 42qts, and are 3 feet long.

what brand? cause theres a 41qt sterilite tub that would be good for breeding but its so long i wanted one that was shorter but wider.
the 41 qt is 34.75 x 16.5 x 6.0

i have 7 female ball pythons from 2,500g to 200g, their all eventually going to get huge so i was thinking of just giving them the bigger tubs from the start. i also have 6 males from 1,100g t300g and i wanted to put them in the same size tubs too.

im getting a rack system and i was just wondering what size tubs to get.

That is the size tubs I used for all my adult ball pythons. 10 tubs in each rack. Plenty of room to thermoregulate, stretch out and breed durring breeding season. That is what I would personally get if I were you :gj: Of course smaller size ball pythons were housed in smaller size tubs in different racks though.

The 41 qt sterilite tub works good for large adults.:)

I use 41qt Rubbermaid tubs because they are wider. That might be closer to what you were looking for. They seems a little bit smaller than the 41qt sterilite tubs though.

You should only have the large snakes in that kind of rack. I would highly advise against putting the smaller snakes in that size of a rack. That's too big IMO. I think they would have lots of stress due to the tub size. Just my $.02... I'm going to have adult racks and hatch/juvi racks. 32qt sideways for adults can usually use two 15qt for juvis so you house them in different combos. Shoe box racks for hatchlings. Good luck!

Or you can put hides in for the smaller snakes. Like you, I always buy/build my enclosures with the adult snake in mind.

If you can find tubs of different sizes, but with the same height as Simple stated, it is not too expensive to have the different size tubs as shoe box tubs are cheap.
