Is it bad that I let Snickers lick my nose?
Almost every time i hold her I let her climb off my hand/arm towards my face and many times her tongue will flicker at my nose.(which I love because it tickles and I like to view it as a kiss even though I am well aware it's not)

It never bothered me until tonight....

We had a guest over and she said she wanted to hold Snickers and instantly when she was holding Snickers she was scared and Snickers was kinda freaked out by it and so I took Snickers back and after about 1 minute of calming down Snickers was acting normal again and licked my nose but then all of a sudden started climbing up my face trying to get to the top of my head which she has never done before. Anyway like 10 minutes later was her feeding time for the week and she ate so she probably wasn't too stressed by the incident.

My question....is letting a BP climb towards your face and on your face a bad idea???

Just remember it is a snake and there always is a chance of being bitten.

I personally do not let my snake near my face when I am handling him. There is always the chance for being bitten.

I let myy BP go where ever she pleases, if its near my face so be it. But you have to be aware that there is ALWAYS the chance of being bitten

Out of 55 BPs there are only 2 that I won't let near my face, and one of those has actually bitten me in the eye. The rest are fine, and the chance of one of them biting me is so small that I don't really mind taking the risk.

Java likes to do that as well...and he views my glasses as the perfect perch.

Id say its like anything else in the world...assess the risks, be aware of the situation, and do whatever you feel like.

If the snake seems relaxed then I don't think you'll ever have an issue. Out of 43 I have 1 that I have to hold away from me. And he's a little baby. He just loves to strike at anything infront of him. I wish he would calm down. But it's pretty easy to feel when they are tense and if you are handling a tense snake just be cautious.

    Thanks for all the replies....

I think I will just continue letting Snickers do her thing and lick my nose and climb where she wants for the time being.

spitzu's response concerns me a bit because I could handle being bit...not one of my eyes though!!!(I don't want an eyeball of mine to be bitten!)
