What do you guys think about the crushed walnut substrate for a hognose? I wanted to try something besides aspen to encourage burrowing. I have heard that ingestion of the walnut shells can cause severe damage to the GI mucosa, but I always feed in a separate container, so there are few worries about ingestion by that route.

Here is the substrate I'm using: http://www.zilla-rules.com/products/...nut-shells.htm

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

    Frankly I'm not a fan.

I use plain jane Care Fresh, and the hoggies seem to thrive in it

I've used the Jungle Earth and my hognose's loved that, all they do is dig all day long and cruise along! i would not suggest the walnut stuff
