I've got one on my 32quart rack and it seems to be working really well. Its the kind of thermostat that gets to the set temp and shuts off, then turns back on when it falls below the desired temp. Its got a probe, its digital, its easy to use.

Do a search here about Hydrofarm. I did a write up and others have also bought and used this thermostat. It's a good thermostat for the price.

I think when I bought mine, it was on sale at Amazon.com for $29.99 with free shipping.

Just remember that the probe accuracy is not stellar, its specs say it is +/- 2ºF and it has a one degree set point so if set to 90 could run as high as 93 or as low as 87, just keep that in mind when using one. Most people can't afford an accurate (+/- 1º or less) so 'true' temps can only be a range possible high to low. Now that that is said I know Johnson is the same and I am guessing Ranco is too. Check the specs and plan for the range, 3º is a bit on the large side to me anyway, but then again I am OCD a bit about it.

After reading here that people hav had good luck with them I bought one off of Amazon for $26 and change shipped recently. So far so good. Using it on my small rack setup and it maintains temps nicely. I did wire in a reohstat just in case.

For the price, it works very well. I use it on my Cal King.

Can't speak to the Hydrofarm, but on my Herpstat I keep the probe on the flex of my middle tub (of 3) and keep digital thermometers in all tubs. I check them daily.

    So far, so good.

I will probably buy a Hydrofarm soon. It never hurts to have an extra one for emergencies, or for that snake you didn't plan on bringing home and need to set up a tub for :D
