    CHE Question
I've been struggling with ambient temps in my 20G L glass tank so I picked up a 100W CHE and a 8.5" lamp with a built in dimmer. Is it safe to rest the lamp directly on the screen top or do I need to keep it suspended above the screen top?

The lamp came with a clamp but I don't have anything to clamp it to at the moment. My humidity is really high (70-80) so I'm not too worried about that yet.

This is my first time working with a CHE so any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Yes, you can set the dome directly on the screen. Just remember that the dome is going to be hot, so whenever you need to open the top, make sure you let the CHE cool off for a while before setting it somewhere else...

Thanks for the warning, I'll definitely be careful with it when moving it.

My ambient temp is pretty stable at 82 now and the humidity is 70 so it did the trick in that regard. I'll just keep an eye on my humidity now.

^^ This. I have a semi-melted spot on my carpet because of this. :rolleye2:

Yea - the Mrs. won't be too big on melted carpet - I'll just move it over to the screen top of my leopard gecko tank whenever I need to tend to my BP.

    Thanks all for the feedback.

:8::rofl: There is a reason why I put that warning in there. So do I.
IIRC I did that on Snake Owner Day #2...

I use these and love them for my vivs that use CHE heating, but probably not needed for 20G longs only running dimmed 100 watt-ers.
