Alex has not excreted anything since getting him

it has been almost a month. he has been eating regularly without issue 2 pinkies and now fuzzies every week. is this normal?

They will normally defecate every 3-4 weeks, but it's not uncommon for them to go longer. Alot of times they will hold on to it if they are getting ready to shed and let it go after the shed is done.

Are you feeding mice or rats?

I wouldn't worry about it for now, to be honest. My boy Gene last defecated probably...four weeks ago after a small mouse meal. He had a small f/t rat after that, but hasn't left me a present. He's preparing to shed (Hurry up already, little dude) and won't eat anything, so he's getting that annoying triangle shape goin'..drives me nuts. Anyway, don't worry, you'll wake up one morning and you'll see an extra log where there wasn't one before.

From what I gather you are feed too small of mice. It happened to us as well.

Even a hatching Ball Python can eat bigger than a pinky mouse.(We stared off with fuzzy mice but according to many people on here hatchlings should be started off with hopper sized mice)

We got out BP 10 months ago and recently we thought she was constipated because she hadn't pooped or did urates in almost 3 weeks(she since did both a few days ago) but we discovered it is because her prey size was too small and that we should now be feeding her adult sized mice.

My advice to you would be feed him the rest of the fuzzy mice you already purchased(just so they are not wasted....i mean that mouse died for your snake to eat...it deserves more than being tossed in the garbage)

Then move up to hoppers.

If you are using an overhead heat source, like a heat bulb or emitter, they can dry wastes up quickly. Like overnight. If you have light colored bedding like aspen it will dry up and blend in.

As mentioned I always find poop with sheds. After that a bright fresh super-hungry snake.

One of mine's is on her 3rd week and 3rd small rat she'll go when she's ready to go.

Dehydration can cause constipation so check your humidity. But I think the issue is the meals are way to small. My hatchlings go from mouse hoppers as a meal 3 times up to sml adult mice. I start them on the hoppers bc adult mice can be a little too pushy sometimes and freak them

On a brand new baby. Go up to adult mice or even crawler rats or weaned rats depending on his size. You can freeze the hoppers for emergencys or just use them as one or two meals allowing the snake to eat as many hoppers as he wants. Generally even babies can eat 2. If they already are frozen you can unfreeze and refreeze the prey if he doesn't eat it a couple times but I would go past that.

You can get away feeding hoppers but you might want to feed more than one at a time. He really can move up to small adults or larger at this point.

Sometimes they don't poo for over a month. It's kind of nice from a clean-up point of view. But if you're worried about him, fill a bathup up with a few inches of water that's just a teensy bit warmer than room temp. 80F is about perfect--any warmer and it's actually uncomfortable or even unhealthy for the snake. And then let him swim for 5-10 minutes. I bet he'll let go pretty fast in there.
