BP chewing?

I fed my BP, Claire, a mouse today. It was a little bigger than what I usually feed her. Plus, it was freshly killed instead of f/t. She grabbed it by it's side and dragged it into her hide. She seemed to almost be chewing on it before letting it go. Then she ignored it for a couple minutes before grabbing it by it's side again and doing the same thing. She wasn't even trying to position the mouse to swallow like she usually does when grabbing a mouse by the side. She did it one more time before finally grabbing the mouse by the head and swallowing it. Does anyone have any idea why she was doing this? A friend asked me if she could possibly be breaking the mouse's bones because it was pretty large, but I've never heard about anything like that before. Just thought it was interesting and it made me curious. Thanks in advance for replies. :)

They can do some weird things.
My female pastel is currently banging her dead mouse against the side of the tank:rolleye2::rolleye2:

My female normal does that sometimes. She also squeezes and writhes around with her ft rats. I say it's just the rat putting up a fight ;)

Since you fed her a larger rodent, she probably just had a harder time figuring out where the head was.

Sometimes their teeth get "stuck" And they'll appear to be chewing or dragging the prey around. It's normal..

Yes, a low level of intelligence is usually pretty obvious.

It was just something I've never seen her do before, and wondered if anyone else had a BP or any other snake do that. She got it down, so I wasn't worried about it. I was just interested in other people's ideas of what she may have been doing.
