Bummed... My future Mojave Female became a new washer instead. Darn you Murphy!
I was looking for a female Mojave and was just about to buy one and then my washer that is only 8 years old stops spinning. Darn you Murphy and your crazy law! Last week I just turned down a free washer and dryer because mine wasn't very old and worked fine.

So after discussing with the repair tech the options we decided to buy a new washer instead of repairing the old. We got a great deal on a Kenmore Elite front load washer ($629, 60% off original price) because it is red and they no longer have any matching dryers available. I love my new washer, but now I feel like I shouldn't buy my Mojave yet. :tears:

That really sucks because I have a lesser male and I really wanted to start a Blue Eye Lucy project.

that sucks. I guess just start from scratch at saving. Maybe youll find a cheaper one at a reptile expo. It could be worse though your mojave could have been in the washer lol (jk when my snake escaped i was paranoid about washing her)

I'm bad I'd have chosen the mojave and washed by hand. I did that last year when our dryer broke. I chose my Carmel albino het og over a new dryer. I was hanging clothes for 6 months.

My new washer only lasted 12.5 months! Was defective when they sold it! Warranty only lasted months!

Man that would tick me off!:rage: I really hope that doesn't happen to us. This is the first of three washers that I didnt' get the extended warranty on. :please: it was $200 more! I never used it on the other two.

Hubby still thinks we can get the Mojave. Yea! but it doesn't leave me as much in my emergency fund as I would like to.

    That sucks!

I have been in similar situations before, and thank goodness for Appliance Repair forums!!

I have replaced the belt in a washer, the direct drive in a washer, and most recently the clutch pad when mine stopped spinning. I've also replaced the heating element in my dryer, the motor in my dryer, the timer in my dryer and replaced the entire brain of my electric stove, all by reading up on how to do it in Appliance repair forums.

I discovered those guys at Sears will tell you whatever they think will make them money. They wanted $90 just to come out to my house and tell me what was wrong with my washer when it stopped spinning. Then the price of the parts and $120 a hour labor. :O

I spent about 2 hours on the internet, and discovered I needed a $35 part. I also found detailed pictures and even videos to show me how to replace it. We had to take the entire motor off our washer, but the part itself only took about 15 minutes to replace.

If you guys are the least bit handy, you may want to consider that route next time. In the meantime, it sucks about the snake and my only advice to you is not make the same mistake I did and get one you really can't afford. I thought we'd be fine when I bought my Mojave male, things would be tight but we'd should be okay. Well, sure enough as soon as he was paid for, half a dozen things went wrong and we were in dire straits for a while.

Well it turns out I love my new washing machine. That thing can spin like no ones business and I actually got all my laundry done! A first in this house. It didn't last long but it can sure keep up with my three muddy messy boys. :D

The best part is we did go ahead and get my Mojave! We found a 2009 Female that weighs right around 675 gm at the Columbus OH Reptile show. Now she is our largest female and our largest male is a Lesser about 375 gm, so hopefully in about a year I will have a blue eyed lucy. We still were able to keep some savings in the bank and the best part is now I have stopped shopping for BPs for a little while. ;)
