    Appropriate Size Food! easy q
Lilly is about 190.3 grams up from 130.2 grams when i got her so shes been eating strong. She is about 19-20 inches long. The question that now arises is how big of portions should she be getting every five days (the schedule i have her on). Shes currently feeding on weenlings (weighing in about 18g). She still seems to be very hungry even after her meal tongue flicking and sensing around for more heat signatures from a rodent.

Here tracking details... [NOTE EVEN MORE DETAILS ON FEEDING HERE]

Size could go up some in size and do fine but 10% of her body weight every 5 days isn't too bad.
I tend to feed 10% of their body weight every 3-4 days when they are that young and they happily accept it :)

Agreed she seems hungry on the 4th day and STARVING on the 5th... Then the following day after shes been fed she pretty mellow like she knows that she isn't going to get fed for another 5 days :P.

But i was looking for that rule of thumb... The two I've heard.
    1) You can feed them a mouse/rat the size of their thickest girth
    2) The % of their body weight rule! You say 10% anyone else have their own %?

I shoot for 10%-15% of body weight. Up to a 29g mouse or rat pup.

Think I'm going to go for like anything around 25-30 grams. Just because she eats every five days.

Thank you for all the replies the more the merrier!

Personally I feed Loki 2 small mice a week. He just kept seeming like he was hungry with only one, so I bumped it up. After the second mouse, he isn't looking for anything else to eat. But he's also at about 23 inches now, don't know how much he weights don't have a scale yet. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I feed both Live & F/T now. Just whatever I have on hand or the money for. I keep F/T for when I don't have the money to get some Live(stunned). Loki will eat both. (thankfully)

I agree with Jerry, at that size I feed 10% of body weigh every 5th day, once they reach about 500g I feed my females 15% and males 10-15% of body weigh every 7 days, basically all my females get the larger rats. Hope this helps.

I like this and i feel i will be doing the same thing. Lilly is growing at a healthy rate shedding well and feeding fantastically. Shes getting about 9.6% of her body weight in food every five days! I'm going to stay on the weenlings for now and try to lean towards the larger ones around 20 grams.
