    I'm going to quit smoking.
...I just read a post someone put on here, about their mom.
...I don't know if anyone cares, but I don't want to die.
I know I have to, so I'm not going to help hurry it up.
I'm going to call the doctor today and I'm going to try to get something prescribed to help me quit smoking.
You know what's sad? My parents are probably going to die of cancer from cigarettes.
I'm going to lose them some 15 years early because of cigarettes. Because of a drug.
...that won't be me. Some of you said you can't say "I'm going to try to quit", but you have to say "I will quit."
    I will quit.
I don't want to kill myself.
    I want to live.
I'm going to get help, and I'm done.
Sorry for the rant...my heart feels like it sunk into a pit in my tummy. I'm crying and anxious and panicky...
To the person who made the original post that sparked this...you have changed my entire view of everything. I don't know why your post. But...
some things happen for a reason, maybe.

I've heard really great things about Chantix, as long as you stick with it. Good luck with quitting. My grandfather smoked since he was 17 years old, he quit about 6 years ago after a major heart attack, and he just died of stage 4 lung cancer that they could not catch quick enough. It was VERY hard to watch him die like that, no one deserves it. Unfortunately, we are ALL going to die sometime.

I know what I'll do instead. I'll finally start up cello lessons again....haven't been able to afford them since I started smoking.
Then I'll play again....when I play, everything wrong in the world melts away.

I wish you luck in your endeavors to quit smoking Shellie. Definitely ask your doctor about some mediecation to help you quit. It will be tough, but don't give up.

I quit 4 years ago. My wife and I were smoking a pack a day each. Our son came home one day from school after learning about smoking and said he didn't want us to die from it. So he asked us to quit. That was all I needed. The hardest part for me was being around friends that smoke. Just recently I find myself wanting one when friends are around. I won't go back though. My grandmother that raised me died of cancer.
