What is going on with this mouse?
Hey i am new to breeding mice but i have never seen this in my research. This is a female mouse who just had her babies,It was going to be my first litter but she was a bad mom and left them all for dead. But after she gave birth it looks like her sides are sucked in. Is this Normal?

She looks very ill. Something is really wrong with her, but I'm not sure what.

I have no idea what's going on with her, but she does look sick due to the sides being sunken in o-o
Feed her off when she's done nursing and get another female?

I would feed her off. I've never bred mice, have owned a few, but considering she's already proven she isn't a fit mother I wouldn't breed her again. Not to mention, she looks terrible. Time to find another female! :)

Yup. Do you suppose they're never eaten in the wild?

It's not a puss oozing sore riddled tumor laden rodent. It's a breeder not doing well after dropping a litter. A poor breeder at that.

She very well could have a baby stuck in the birth canal. Dogs & cats often times look like this when a baby is stuck- I can't imagine how it would be any different with mice. Her body is contracting so hard to try to get the baby out, that it has constricted to the point of her sides "caving in".

Not saying that's the definite, but a very good possibility.

I'm most certainly no expert, so I'd say take what I say with a grain of salt. But others have told me, BPs can't catch infections/illnesses from mice/rats. Of course, maybe there are a few that can be transferred from species to species that am currently unaware of. So, maybe further input from others who breed feeders would help.
