What The H E L L!!!

I feed my boy on Friday, and woke up 30min. ago to the worst smell in the world. Austin had not ever up chucked anything before. What do I need to do???:confused:

Did he regurge/vomit? I'm a bit confused if you mean this isn't a regurge or if it is your first time dealing with one.

If so, make sure you don't try to feed for a while! He needs time to let his stomach settle again.. I haven't dealt with a regurge I'm sure someone who has can help!

I guess it was a regurge - I have had him awhile(over a year) I no not to handle for a few days when he has ate. Humidity is great and heat as well. He was acting funny after this feed. I am wondering if the animal he ate was a D U D.
I dont no of any vet to take him to in Parker CO. Anyone in the area no of a spot? I am still :confused:

I see you posted this under General Herp. Is this a BP your are talking about or another kind of snake?

For BP's just double check your husbandry (especially making sure your BP has a warm spot with a 88-93 degree surface temp). Do not attempt to feed your BP again for at least 2 weeks. The enzymes in his stomach need time to rebalanced themselves. If you attempt to feed before 2 weeks you run a high risk of having it happen again.

BP regurgitations tend to be the result of prey items being too big, not completely thawed out, handling the BP after their meal, or inadequate heat to help the BP digest their meal.

He is a full size BP - I feed him live Med. And I will let him settle, I was wondering if it was something more that i need to worry about. Thanks for ALL the input - This has not happened to him and @ 230 in the AM i was freaked out.

Did you actually confirm that he had eaten the rat? Or did you just see that he had constricted it, and didn't check back later?

A dead, unconsumed rodent will start to smell horribly.

If you believe that he did regurgitate, then don't feed him for another 2 weeks, you need to allow his stomach flora to build back up, so that he doesn't regurgitate again.

assuming it is a regurge check your temps Agent has that right! I'd also suggest after 2 weeks to feed a bit on the small size (small rat over medium) just to make it easier to digest. Good Luck

Seems you've gotten your answer, but I'm going to be a stickler about this. Shouldn't you have found a local reptile vet BEFORE you got the snake?

I'll admit, I didn't when I got my first BP either, but I got lucky and found one in my town.

yeah - but i did do a ton of research, He is a happy normal BP - eats well and have never had an issue with him. Came from a great family who needed to make room. So i did a swoop on the handsome stud.
I will keep looking and ask around for a vet to take him. I don't know about the "Pet Smart" vet ??? just doesn't seem right. I could be wrong....Thats why I am on this wonderful sight.

He did get him down - I was wondering if the rat was a bad one ??? It had looked like the shop that i go to had just got in a batch of rats. Again I don't no.
