Painting a Tub?
Hello,
I gave the forum a once over and it revealed nothing related to my question so here goes!
I plan on getting a 105qt sterilite and I plan on using it as a "display" cage. The only problem I have with this is how to black out three sides of the tank. I would prefer something permanent but I honestly don't know what to paint it in. permanent black marker perhaps...? But what about any possible fumes?
Thanks for any advise!

if youre worried about fumes you could try contact paper on the outside. it might even look better.

Re: Painting a Tub?
I'm not familiar with contact paper at all. All I can tell you for sure is that I am looking for something that will be permanent, or at least close to it.
As a completely unrelated side note, I am interested in finding some sort of LED lighting I can use for the snake I currently have. I was hoping for one strip of red and one of white, maybe a foot in length both. They will not be used to provide heat obviously but instead to provide lighting for us pesky humanz :D!
Any suggestions?

Krylon Fusion Paint. Made specifically for plastic - no primer needed. FANTASTIC stuff! Just tape off and paper the areas you don't want painted to avoid splatter from over spray.
It comes in a variety of colors, and black is one of them.

Oh, and since the outside is what you are going to paint, a day or so of curing will take care of any fumes.

Great info!
Thats useful information right there!
Now if only I could find some info on led lights.

Try Pep Boys or some place like that. Not sure how cost efficient they are, but I saw some LED's the other day for different parts of the car - probably "raced out" Civics LOL. Only problem with these is that they are probably hard wired to the car itself, so not sure how you would power them.
Other than that, maybe a Google search. I have never looked into it. A lot of people use rope lighting, which is not too expensive.

This is exactly what I was wanting. Maybe a foot in length or so (20 gallon high tank). The problem is I'm not sure how I would set it up or where on earth i would find it. Would it be acceptable to put the strip inside the cage in the strip was water proof?
I guess I need to see some pics of people with LED lit tanks!

They do make rope lighting for outdoor use, so it is waterproof.
Here ya go!

Make sure the rope light you purchase IS, in fact, cuttable, of course.

Great Video.
That shows exactly what I was concerned with as I continue my self-education on rope lighting. This has been an A+ day for you!
Still interested in any pics anyone might have to offer showing a setup which uses LED light rope!
