If he is eating and shedding properly, he likely isnt stressed out. Perhaps this is where the temp. is most comfortable for him. Is there any chance your hot side is to warm for him?

Maybe he just feels that secure in his enclosure? I wouldn't worry about it. My pied is the same way. The only time he uses his hide is after a big meal....:D

My little baby likes to sit out too. :) I guess they're just weird snakes.

From what you described it sounds normal. some will use a hide some won't. seems like baby or smaller bp's use hides more frequently than adults.:)

I have males and females that do the same. Some are just comfortable. Its a good thing!

Mine never, ever, goes in his hide. He's always sitting curled up in the top of his little plastic cannabis plant ;) My hubby jokes that he just really likes 4-20 breaks lolz. The lady I purchased him from (diffrent much nicer one than before) says that's how he's been as far as she knows, he never used hides at there either. She said some do, and some don't.

I'd recommend checking the temps very carefully inside the hides and out side ambient temps just to make sure. It is not normal for a ball python to never hide at all, some may come out at odd times but they all will use a hide at some point or another. That the snake is still eating is good but some will eat no matter what.
