I would try to get familiar with them first. Do you know anyone with a snake or gecko/lizard? If you do try to get to know their pet and once you become comfortable get one for your home.

Honestly, although I'd wanted a snake since I was as young as 12years old, I was always a little leery of them. As I got older I would hold snakes at pet expos and belonging to friends. Eventually, I got comfortable holding them. Now, I have no fear of being bit or picking mine up directly out of their enclosures. When I got my first bp, I used a snake hook to pick it up out of the tank and sat down while holding it (in case I freaked and it fell). The snake became more relaxed with me, and as I got to know its body language and attitude, it's become as easy as holding a puppy. Lol
...tiny lizards still freak me out...they just jump and move too quickly for my comfort.

Making fun of someone's post is not a way to make them feel welcome. He or she is new to the forum. They misspelled the word multiple times. English is possibly not their first language.

I don't think this was making fun of the person making the post. It is clear that English is not their first language. I believe this was just a great way to pull some laughs. I was thinking something similar when I read the first post, but my reply wouldn't have been nearly as great.

    I am still laughing!

Hmm.. it may not have been intentional. All I know is if I spoke a second language and made an effort to reach out to those who were fluent in the language, only to have them joke about spelling errors rather than address the question/concern, I'd be a bit saddened. Maybe that's just me..
Don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to call anyone out or anger anyone.. just hoping maybe it hadn't been thought through how the OP could possibly take the joking.
